The lens uses an internal piece that shifts forward and backward while you adjust its zoom range, but it doesn’t extend outside the outer barrel. This makes the lens appear quite small compared to other lenses. The lens uses 77mm filters, which is quite a bit larger than the 67mm of the 75-85mm and the 18-55mm lenses. The lens does not come with a carrying pouch or lens hood, so you will have to buy these accessories should you need them.
